Hold the phone. A tamper-proof fastener and any device to aid retention
are entirely different things. Tamper-proof (tamper-resistant,
actually) is just that - a means to reduce the possibility of the
unwashed messin' where they shouldn't. Any means to improve fastener
retention - a lock washer, a tension washer, a lock nut, a torque patch,
a cotter pin, safety wire, a head style, chemical thread locker, welding
- is used solely to reduce the chance of the fastener losing its applied
torque due to vibration, thermal cycling, etc.
Apples and oranges.
