Standard questions for a Windows XP application.

1.  It is best to install software with administrator or Power User rights
(this may be your login ID).  Guest or other restricted user accounts on
Windows XP will not usually work (insufficient rights).

2.  IF you have multiple serial ports on you computer, make sure WxSoultion
software configuration agrees with your hardware serial port connection.

3.  Setup the WxSolution software for the correct baud rate for your ID 5001
weather station.  I believe this is 9600 baud.

4.  Use a known good straight through cable (not a null modem cable - unless
requested).

5.  Since you indicated earlier that you had lightning damage to your ID
5001 opto isolators, you may wish to the check the RS-232 device on the
5001.  This is usually a MAX232 or equivalent TTL to RS232 level converter
integrated circuit.

IF you do need to replace the MAX232, Dallas Semi / Maxim has newer models
with enhanced (+/- 15 kV) ESD protection.
The MAX232E may be a suitable substitute (Thunderbird may have a preferred
IC replacement).

I'm sure someone out there has had this problem and solved it.  I am trying
to use Thunderhead WxSolution on my Windows XP to connect to the 5001.  It
supposedly will work, but cannot get the two to communicate.  Am using COM1
on the computer.  Any help would be appreciated.
