Oscilloscope Recommendations:Caution

It isn't quite that simple.
Heath scopes provide:
1.Unique nostalaga.
2.Availability of replacement parts as most are ordinary service grade.(Not
overly costly either.)
3.The simplicity of circuit design that such many/most hobbyists can
economically service it themselves.(After all these were designed to be
built from kits,at home.)
4.Affordable shipping costs if purchased via mail order.
5.Cheap(often free)manuals.
6.Because a man can afford to pay $50.00 for a scope it does not
automatically follow that he can afford $150.00.
7.A good practical example of the minimalist philosophy in action which is
to say that unecessary complexity is to be avoided partly because it *is*
unecessary and only that which is needed for a particular application is to
be sought after and employed.

Whatcha gonna do with a 60 pound Tek that doesn't work right after you open
the shipping carton?Pay shipping costs *both ways*for all that weight all
over again (plus his labor fee) to send it to a service tech and have him
return it repaired?
Not everybody lives next door to a Tek repair specialist and not everybody
has easy access to cheap Teks at swap meets, either,by the way.
There is a kind of practical beauty in simplicity in all things.
