You have fooled the rig into thinking you have a low SWR but either/or both
the tuner losses and the feedline losses are eating your lunch. Get
yourself a good balanced line tuner like an old Johnson Matchbox and then
feed the antenna with open wire line. Now you can deal with high SWR with
little loss. Also experiment where you tap into the loop. Hope your
antenna ground is adequate too. Your antenna tuner was never meant to
handle a mismatch problem to the degree you are facing. You are lucky it
even can tune this range of miss match. However, in doing so, it is doing
it with great loss as you are discovering listening to the receiver. You
have dealt with the SWR but not the losses associated with the SWR.
