I recently bought a HW-9 that was partially assembled. Well I found the
components that were missing and I am in the alignment phase of
construction. I have no output to the frequency counter from the VFO.
Just a little history on the air cap. The vernier drive was very stiff
and so was the air variable. The grease had congealed and was causing
binding. The air variable was cleaned with wd-40. As I have no cap.
tester ; I am unable to test the cap. I did measure proper voltaged to
all the transisters involved with vfo operation. I also removed the air
cap and used a 4.7 uf disk across the air variable capacitor inputs.
Still no vfo output. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a source
for these air variables? I believe they are 4-17 uf. Thanks for the
help in advance.
