DX-35/VF1

  I would check the dropping resistor and the 0B2 regulator
in the VFO, it apparently isn't drawing current and that's why
you don't have the required drop across that 20K resistor
in the transmitter. I would use the RCA jack on the
back of the rig for the VFO input, switching to that jack
takes the feedback path out of the picture and allows the
xtal oscillator in the transmitter to act as a buffer amp
instead of an oscillator.
