HW-10-1 puzzlement

Hi gang;

I have several requests to post my findings on the HW-101 that would not
load correctly. It turned out to be low output from the VCO. I knew the
power was low (30-50 watts) but I didn't think that would affect the
final loading. The only thing I can think of is that low drive caused a
change in the final plate impedance so that the pi network can't
transform the plate impedance to 50 Ohms. Live and learn! It now has
80-100 watts on all bands and loads correctly.

BTW: It is up for sale. I put a new mic jack in it and new finals. The
only anomalies I see are that the ant connector has been changed to a
SO-239 and the tab for the filter switch is broken off. There is still
enough sticking out to easily operate the switch, although it does not
have the CW filter installed. I thought I would give the guys on the
reflectors first crack at it before I list it on that auction place. I am
asking $100 with a 30 day conditional guarantee. I also have the HP-23
power supply at $65 and the interconnect cable for $20. All 3 for $175
plus shipping. Pix available on request. Thank you.
