off topic subject

This may be off topic but, I recall seeing a 12 volt unit that could be
connected to the output of a battery charger, to provide regulation etc so
that the charger could then be used as a power supply to run 2 meter and
other similar equipment. It may even have been a Heathkit unit. Is anyone
familiar with this?
