The old Amphenol type microphone connector is
available from various sources. If, for some reason
you can't find one, you can make one from a UHF male
(PL-259) connector by cutting off the center pin about
half way. Use a reducer (for RG58/U) and solder the
shield of the microphone wire to this. Solder the
center conductor to the shortened pin. This will
"fit" the Amphenol type jack without any problems.

You will need a high impedance microphone. Most
"modern" rigs use "medium" impedance (about 600 ohms)
and these microphones will not work satisfactorily
with the DX-60. By "high impedance" this will mean
either a crystal or ceramic element.

As for crystals: True FT-243 crystals are not readily
available new. You can get sealed crystals (basically
HC6/U types with larger diameter pins soldered on) new
or else look around eBay, the various E-Mail
reflectors, etc., for FT-243 types that will work.

What type of microphone does the DX-60 "like"?

Where can I get a microphone plug for the DX-60?

Where can I purchase crystals for the DX-60?
