Heath Diode Question

Hi Dave -

Interesting.

The D8PRO Heath cross reference

http://www.d8apro.com/heath3.htm

says the 56-27 (cross is S160) is a 1500V, 12A diode in a DO-4 case. The DO-4
case is a 10-32 threaded, stud mounted device with a tab out the top. I believe
this is an error.

According to NTE at:

http://www.nteinc.com/

the 56-27 crosses to an NTE177. This is a 200V, 250 mA rectifier in a more
logical DO-35 (1N4000 series case). The S160 also crosses to the NTE177.

Knowing where it is and what it does would help identify it, but it looks to me
like a 1N400(x) might work.

What is it used in, for?
