DX-60B & D-104 Microphone

Stephen,
Either one should work. The amplifier is mainly an impedance matcher to mate
the high output impedance (Zout) of the mike to the low Zin of
transistorized rigs. Since the D-60 has a high Zin, it will not load down an
unamplified D-104.

I have used both amplified and unamplified D-104s with the SB- rigs which
have similar input stages to the D-60 and they both worked well.

There was an article in QST sometime last year that discussed the effect of
load impedance on low frequency response of the D104. As I recall, for
reasonably low-end roll off, the load should be 200-300K (on an unamplified
mike).
