Shipping an SB-220

As a former Dentron employee, I can confirm that we shipped the transformer separately on all 2KW class amplifiers to prevent damage. The Clipperton L had a steel chassis; I'm quite sure that the SB-220 is aluminum. By the way, don't even think of leaving the tubes in place! 73.

Besides the tubes, my biggest worry would be in leaving the plate transformer
in place - it was common practice to remove and ship these separately even on
"factory-assembled" gear, since that heavy weight is bound to bend the chassis
when UPS or FedEx or whoever drops the box - an aluminum chassis (isn't the
SB-220 chassis aluminum?) just isn't up for that!
