Subject power supply for Chippewa KL-1

Dave,

In 1962 Heath closed out the KL-1 for 319.00. At that time there were no
more power supplies left in their inventory. I bought the amplifier less the
power supply. The parts department had several transformers and filter
capacitors in stock so I picked up one each and built my own supply using
their schematic. I was told by Heath that the guys were buying up the
supplies for their home brew projects because the supplies were much cheaper
than if you purchased the components separately. I'm not sure if they
produced more supplies than amplifiers but I think your chances of finding
one is slim to none, they didn't produce that many units! I also want to
caution you about the plate current meter. I was nearly killed when I
accidentally bushed the zero set while turning off the plate voltage,
somehow the zero set had 3KW sitting on it. I recently learned that the same
thing happened to another fellow some years ago so be aware and stay alive!
Everyone KL-1 owner I have talked with has noticed strange behavior of the
plate current meter.
