BAMA

In defense of BAMA, the easiest way to download files from the site is with a true FTP client. The site provides an HTML web browser interface, but web browsers are not designed to make file transfers convenient. FTP is not "old fashioned", it is the protocol of choice for transferring files over the internet, hence the name File Transfer Protocol. A number of shareware or freeware FTP clients are available on TwoCows
http://www.tucows.com/ftp95_default.html

My favorite is a commercial product, WS-FTP from
http://www.ipswitch.com/Products/file-transfer.html

The only problem with BAMA is that Sweet Briar College, where it is hosted, limits the number of concurrent users to 10 in order to control the network bandwidth requirements. We really cannot complain since they are hosting the site for free. That is also the reason the mirror site http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/ is so valuable. The mirror site also supports FTP.
