SB-401: Fix for No Audio...

Greetings All,

This is my first post to the list.  I have been lurking and learning
over the past few months.  Here is a tip which I learned last night:

Configuration:  SB-401 in Transceive Mode with SB-303.

Problem:  No mic audio when transmitting in LSB or USB, however VOX
circuit is working.  Also, CW transmits fine.

Investigation:  Used O'scope to trace audio up to Balanced Modulator
Transformer (T1). No signal on secondary.  Primary is also where the
carrier signal mixes in via the Carrier Null pot.

RTFM:  Spent several minutes Reading The Fine Manual.  Lo and behold
the SB-303 supplies the carrier signal from it's BFO output for LSB &
USB in Tranceive Mode.

Findings:  Broken center conductor at one RCA Phono Plug of the RG-62
BFO cable.

Actions:  Repaired broken wire and lived Happily Everafter.

Hoping this is of some value to someone somwhere...
