Heathkit SB-102 LSB problem

I have a similar problem with my SB-301. It's not very severe, but the audio
sounds more tinny on one sideband than it does on the other. I was wondering
if there are any articles about fixing this or similar problems with the
SB-301.

Thanks,
Al Schichler

You should see NO signal at the plate of V16
the plate is grounded for RF. The BFO output
is taken from the cathode and in LSB you should
see about 3396.6 Khz. As little as a 50 hz shift
of both crystals can cause a noticable difference
in the audio passband response. If you can I
suggest reading the article on optimizing the
SB/HW series transceivers in the Feb 2003
QST, if you don't have access to it I can E mail
you a .PDF file of it.
