DF-2, direction finding radio....

Does anyone have any experience with this unit?...I have one that has 
the "trap modification", "as desribed in the 'in case of difficulty' 
section....but my "in case of difficulty " section has no reference to 
it.   I'm wondering if this mod has something to do with the oscillation 
problem the set seems to have....
