Cantenna Fluid? Need help finding some

Heathkit gave you two options, mineral oil, and transformer oil. That's why
the high power end of the time/vs power graph on the side of the can has two
lines. The dotted line is if you use mineral oil. Mineral oil doesn't go
bad, so far as I know, but cheap as it is, who cares? It should be perfectly
adequate for almost any amateur use. My Cantenna is filled with a substance
known as Dow-Therm, which is used in high powered dummy loads such as are
used to test TV broadcast transmitters. I have no idea what's in it, or if
it's still available. I got mine from a guy who had some, etc. . . But it
begins to "freeze" at room temperature. If you open the can, you can see this
giant crystal floating around inside, which is frozen Dow Therm. I have run 1
kW commercial FM transmitters into it at full power for ten or 15 minutes at a
time and not been able to boil it, so it must be pretty good stuff for dummy
loads. On the other hand, I wouldn't leave it where the kids or the cat can
get at it; it smells ferocious, and I have no idea how safe it is for living
things.
