SB-101 frequency drift

Pete...From my experience, if its a distinct, but small "jump" in frequency
when tuning around the band or sitting on one frequency, its a good chance
the wiper contact on the variable cap in the LMO is dirty and not making
good contact. Again, from my experience, no amount of cleaning or the use of
conductive grease (yeech) will resolve it. I go to the trouble of taking the
LMO out, removing the side covers, and then I solder a good conductive braid
right to the variable cap rotor to ground. There is enough shaft to allow
this. You need a good hot soldering iron to do this but it can be easily
done. Of course, you need enough braid to allow for full rotation of the
variable cap. I've done this fix on all the SB Series rigs I have, including
an SB-104 I had. Its a permanent and solid fix.
