Testing vacuum tubes

Hi Dale:
If you are going to be keeping care of tube radios for a while, I suggest
you purchase a tube tester.
There is much debate about the value of tube testers. My view is that tube
testers are a useful tool to determine if the tube is really gone (open,
gassy or shorts). The best test is another tube that is known to be good.
You might consider purchasing a complete set of spares.
Check with your local club. Someone there may have a tube tester they will
lend you for a while.

Subject: [HEATH-TEMPE] Testing vacuum tubes
Hello All,
I would like to test all or my SB-401's tubes. For being in a major
metropolitan area finding someone who does this is a bit harder than I'd
imagined. Anyone know where I can get this done?
Thanks,
Dale Mason, W9ESE
