OK - Thanks. BTW - what is the power source for the XC-x? Does it get power
from the receiver?

All that you basically have to do with the AMECO 6
meter CB series and the CN series converters is to
change the crystal to 28 MHz and retune the oscillator
and the output coil. Depending on where you started
you might have to put between 5 pf and 10 pf across
the output coil.

You can get a 28.0000 MHz crystal from Mouser for 83
cents. These are in a miniture "round" housing rather
than the HC18/U. However, they should work. I use
the various "clock" crystals that cost well under $1
all the time in various converters. The Mouser part
number is 695-CSA309-28. I could not find a 28.0000
MHz listed in any other type.

I have changed the i.f. on quite a number of the AMECO
converters (and similar) over the years.

I looked at the Ameco converters (that would be more
period-correct) but they don't document that IF and in
fact skip right over it. All I mainly care about is 6 anyway.
