CA 1

Back in the 50's and into the 60's hams were supposed to cease transmissions
if a nuclear attack was imminent. I guess that was a good idea, hi-hi. You
would
somehow detect when a local radio station left the air as only designated
stations
were permitted to transmit Conelrad (Control of Electromagnetic Radiation)
emergency broadcasts on 640 kc or 1240 kc.

If I remember correctly, the CA-1 Conelrad Alarm connects to the AVC of
your
monitor receiver to detect when the monitored carrier drops

A group of designated stations would transmit during randomly sequenced time
slots to hopefully deny the incoming bombers use of radio direction finders.

Does anyone know any technical details about how this was accomplished?
