Wagging DX-35 Meter

If you had that problem with a DX-100 meter then you
definitely had a bad meter. The DX-100 series uses a
much better quality meter usually made by Simpson.
The moving vane type used in the DX-35 works, but is
definitely cheap. In fact, they give the term "cheap"
a bad name. But, like Timex watches "they take a
licking and keep on ticking". I have never run into a
bad moving vane meter that wasn't either physically
abused (like being hit by something) or else had
several times its current carrying ability put through
it.
They are nortorious for bouncing all over the place
and even "banging" the pin. But, again, nothing seems
to really hurt them. Shurite made some with a plastic
case instead of the metal case. But, they are just
about as "bouncy" as those in the metal cases. It is
just because the needle is a bit longer that they
don't bounce around quite as much.
