Dial problem on SB-401

Rob,
I think your problem is that the round dial is not parallel to the front
panel. The spiral follower is either binding in the spiral groove of the
dial or becoming disconnected. See page 31 of the manual. You may be able to
eye-ball the dial parallel by loosening the four nuts holding the LMO down
and skooting it around. You probably should loosen the dial set screws to
let the dial be free while you are doing this. Be careful that you don't
break the nylon follower.

except the dial mechanism only allows the vertical ruler bar to go from 0 to
4 -- and then stops. I assume that that IS a problem. They aren't all like
that are they? It should go all the way to 5 (i.e. indicating 500 kHz
stretch covered by the Tx) I should think.

the pots etc, just to to get to this thing (spiral mech etc.)
