DX-60 question

I have a DX-60 and a DX-60A which I purchased used about 1 year apart and both are missing the top shield for the Final RF cage. Was there a habit of removing them for heat considerations or is this just a case of owners forgetting to put them back on? Is there adequate shielding with the cabinet covers in place without the RF cage top shield?
