Thanks for reply's.
Web site mentioned had no mods for HW-10.
Receiver modulating transmitter when in AM mode:
I'll try to keep this short to explain what I have found.. The recvr audio and mic amp
outputs are tied together at input to audio amp/modulator. When transmitting, the B+
to recvr is switched off and should kill anything from recvr. Enter the meter circuit.
When receiving, the meter monitors voltage drop across resistor feeding B+ to last
IF amp as a signal strength meter. When transmitting the meter displays a rectified
portion of the RF output as a tune meter. During transmit, a portion of this voltage is fed
back to the receiver B+ line and at about 3.1 volts the recver turns into one big oscillator.
Strange! Turning off AVC stops the oscillation as this opens the recvr B+ -- meter circuit
connection. This did not occur many years ago when I used the Shawnee (I hope not).
The RF output is significantly higher than I remember. Adding a diode between IF amp
and meter circuit stopped the oscillation. Forward biased when receiving and reversed bias
when transmit.
Receiver RF amp. Will align for lower part of 6m.
