Suggestions on repairing Heathkit 2.305 MHz IF transformers

Glen, and the list.

If the cores are already cracked, and presumably not reparable/usable
once removed, is there a source that has a wide range of core
replacement material ? Such as Mouser etc. ?

The cores are probably already cracked.  That is why they won't turn.
Use a large needle, dental tool, etc., and carefully chip away the core.
If you look down into the coil using a flashlight you will almost
certainly see where the core is cracked.
