SB-610 Troubleshooting

If the scope powers up and the capacitors do not appear to be 'loading down'
the minus HV,
start by replacing the HV divider resistors. Every Heath scope I have
repaired needed new
resistors there.
The paper capacitors for the sweep circuit in my SB-610 also needed to be
replaced
because the sweep was extremely nonlinear. I still don't observe a nice saw
tooth sweep
waveform so I think that circuit was engineered to be minimally adequate for
its application.
I have not been able to get the two-tone generator to work. The tube looks
good and the
DC voltages are 'right on'. I cannot believe the network modules are bad
because I have
never seen these kinds of things fail. I have been told there is not enough
open loop gain
to sustain oscillation but have not gotten around to investigating that.

Subject: [HEATH-TEMPE] SB-610 Troubleshooting
All,
I have an SB-610 monitor scope that is showing signs of
age...specifically, trace brightness fading and out of focus. I'm
fairly sure those symptoms represent power supply problems, or part
aging. I wondered though if anyone could point me to any parts that
tend to fail more often than others, and that would be responsible for
the symptoms I noted. Thanks for any help.
