0A2 is an unusual tube. (That's Zero-A-Two) It is a gas-filled tube  
with two elements and no heater. It is designed to break down at one  
specific voltage (150v?). The operation is similar to a zener.

It has no gain, so if the manual says 10 is a passing score, believe it.
