Thanks for all the responses,
I should have provided more information. The transformer is not original. I built the capacitor board listed at the following website, http://www.quadesl.com/pdf/w5m_board.pdf . I also replaced every other cap in the chassis. I also replaced all resistors that appeared to be out of tolerance. It had one KT66 and one 6L6GB, replaced them with 2 new 6L6WGC. The choke resistance is what it should be. It was suggested that I check the cathode bias resistors. A 1k sine wave is clean coming out out of the first stage of V1 (12AU7) but clipped coming out of the second stage of the same tube. I do have a good friend and coworker who is a Ham operator who has gone out of his way to help me with parts and advice. He has invited me to bring it to his shop, I think I will. He knows much more about tube technology than I do. But I am learning fast.
I had some request for the following information.
Information and specs and of amp: http://www.barbwired.com/andy/w5/index.htm
Schematic is linked at this site: http://www.geocities.com/mnowlen/heathw5.htm
This is where I got the original transformer specs: http://www.therfshop.com/catalog/hamtrans011404.htm#H

My Original Post: April 30 2006:
I am looking for a tranformer to replace the one in my W5M amplifier. Do you or anyone else on the list have one or know where I can find a non- original replacement. The specs are listed below. I have to admit I am new to the list and new to tube technology. Have been working with solid state for the last 20+ years doing medical equipment repair. The transformer that is currently in the amp is only 800VCT. My grandfather built this amp a long time ago and I inherited it in 1980 when he died. I have been storing it all of these years and now would like to get it working right. With a 16ohm load it starts clipping at about 17watts and should put out about twice that. Anyway, thats my story and I am happy to have found this list.
HEATH W5M POWER TRANSFORMER P/N 54-32 PR) 117 VAC 60 HZ 1 PH
S1) 900 VCT @ 140 MA CCS
S2) 5.0 VAC @ 3A CCS
S3) 6.3 VCT @ 4A CCS
Thanks, Steve Galyean
