AC Line Voltages, Then and Now

Two comments:
1. I would check the power supply capacitors for dc leakage. They
start to get leaky (aka 'lossy') at their end of life and that will
increase the current draw on the transformer.
2. If you do need or want to drop the line voltage, a series 'bucking'
transformer is the best way to go.

Generally, I don't like to see anything but tubes get hotter than 50 C, so this is pretty close to the line. The modulation transfomer runs a bit toasty at 45-47 C, but the plate transformer runs cooler at about 38C.
