Frequency Output (watts) Max plate current (ma) Grid Drive
3.7 65 200 No
7.2 40 190 No
14.2 65 250 Yes
21.2 40 250 Yes
28.2 35 225 No
The above table shows my progress in getting this SB-102 problem solved.
A special thank you to Michel, Gordon and Bob for their assistance, so far, on tracking down this wild DOG.
In case you have not been following this thread, the original issue was that I was only getting about 25 watts output on 40 meters on an SB-102 that I recently purchased.
A had a major breakthrough last night and discovered that there were 2 wires coming from the wiring harness that were quite close to the driver grid coil for 40 meters. I relocated those wires and the output improved considerably on all bands! The kit was originally wired that way and thus never *ever* worked properly.
It looks like I may be dealing with several other faults here.
I am going to calibrate my Collins Wattmeter with a lab calibrated meter to confirm that the above power output readings are correct.
Total lack of grid drive in the Grid Meter position on 80, 40 and 10 is still another mystery to solve.
Progress at last.
73, Bernie
