Bought a really fine unit a couple years ago and just got around to
checking it out since it looked so great inside and out and was
factory wired. What could possibly be wrong I thought. Ha,ha. First
thing I tried was to zero the meter before even applying power. It had
no affect. Took the meter out and it was busted. The tiny circular
spring that is on the needle was broken in the front. No way with my
old eyes am I going to fix it.

The Heathkit part number is 407-747 and it is made by Hoyt. They are
still in business so am also sending email to them. There is no I.D.
on it other than the Heath part number. Not even a FS rating. I am
assuming it is a DC currrent type, probably milliamp. Anybody have
more info that would be helpful? By the way, this is not on the Heath
master parts x-ref.

Thanks and 73, Dick KF4NS
