The r.f. burn that I got back in 1960 took almost a
year to heal (I got it from my original DX-100).
However, the scar is still there today. Just a
"point" on my left thumb, but definitely there.

When I was a junior in high school the physics teacher
decided to try to have an electronics class for one
semester. Since I had an amateur radio operator's
license I got "drafted" to be his "lab assistant".
There were a couple of guys in the class who got their
"jollies" by taking some of the old electrolytics that
had the wire leads on them and plugging them into AC
outlets in the hallways. It took about 15 seconds for
them to explode which gave them plenty of time to get
away. Fortunately no one was ever hurt. But, between
all the "guts" blown all over the place and the stench
the situation was definitely not "the best".

This lasted for about a week before the capacitors
were discovered "missing" and the physics teacher
"read the riot act". Those guys stopped putting
capacitors in AC outlets, at least at school.

Also, RF burns. I've heard that they really NEVER
really heal... probably just an old wives tale...
