HW-16 Chassis

I got an old Heathkit HW-16 at a local hamfest for a winter project.  It has
a gold colored chassis.   All of the other Heathkit ham radio equipment I
have seen has the aluminum color chassis.  So did Heathkit use a gold
chassis for any particular reason?  It should look pretty neat when it is
cleaned up.
