Using the SB-301 on CW

I had the same problem with my SB-300. The problem is caused
by the CW filter, not the BFO. Changing the BFO frequency will
not cure the problem.
The high pitched note when using the CW filter is because of
the CW filter. To change the note to a lower frequency requires
installing a different CW filter.
There are CW filters available but the cost is not worth it. What
I did was build an outboard audio CW filter with an adjustable
bandpass between 400Hz to 1Khz. The one I built runs on a 9 volt
battery and the bandpass frequency is adjustable by an internal
pot. There are no modifications required to the SB-300/301 to
use the filter.
If you are interested in this outboard CW filter, drop me an email.
I am good on qrz.com. I seldom use the CW filter anymore. The outboard
CW audio filter works fine for me.
