I found the same problem of no grid indication.As per the assembly manual
checkout of the meter circuit, use ohmmeter X10 from pin 5 of 6146 to
ground. The reading should be almost full scale. The most likely cause of
this problem is the switch contacts are oxidised.With the wiring so close
to the switch it is impossible to manually clean the contacts. My favorite
cleaner is WD-40.Spray the contacts and continually work the switch back
and forth multiple times. This always works for me. WD-40 is NOT a
lubricant but a cleaner kerosene based.When used in frequency based
circuits it may cause some detuning,but over a period of time due to
evaparation the frequency will return to
