It is pretty easy to replace the slug. Take a small
metal probe and VERY CAREFULLY chip the old slug
moving from the slug to the middle. The slug will be
cracked, usually in several places.
Once you get the material removed from one section the
slug will just fall apart.
I have done this with quite a few coils over the
years. Of course the second time is MUCH easier than
the first (once you have learned the "technique").
