Zero beat

It means that the tone can be heard increasing on both
sides of zero-beat.  That is, as you tune from one
side of the frequency the tone decreases in frequency
until it cannot be heard and then as you continue
tuning in the same direction the tone increases in
frequency.

The better the filter the less this is going to
happen.
