Drifting SB-301

Sounds to me like the 301's LMO has a dirty variable capacitor tension
spring. The spring creates the connection between the variable plates
and the capacitor's frame. When corrosion/dirt builds up at the contact
point the LMO becomes unstable and creates that "chirpy" tuning. This
is common with old vintage gear that has not been kept clean. To fix
this problem, clean the tension spring contact point using Deoxit and
rotate the LMO through its travel a number of times. Depending on how
dirty the contact point is, it may take a couple of shots of Deoxit.

This problem will be on ALL bands since the LMO's common to all bands.
