SB-102, the saga continues

I would tighten all of the machine screws and all of
the nuts that go through the chassis of the unit. All
of the grounds in the transceiver are made through
these connectors and they definitely work loose over
the years.

Next, most of the Heath SB-Line and HW-100 and HW-101
are not "happy" with the 6146B family (6146B/8298A or
any 6146W with a code date of after mid 1965). The
6146B family is different from the 6146 and
6146A/8298. For the article on the 6146 family of
tubes that was published in Electric Radio a while
back go to

Probably some of those more familiar with the SB and
HW tube line will contribute a more solid idea, but I
would also suspect bad grounds on the boards. It
certainly sounds like oscillation and possibly due to
RF feedback all the way back to the input of the
driver. So, if you haven't already done so, I would
carefully loosen and then then tighten all PCB
mounting screws. You might also keep a close eye on
the connections for any signs of corrosion, etc. Just
a thought.
