Connecting SB-610 to SB-101 for recv

Hi All,

First, thanks to those taking interest and replying.

For one person's query, the SB-610 is a scope that can monitor BOTH send and receive (IF = 3395kHz) signals.

My philosophy on mods is to test EACH change that is incrementally added.

Thus, I first connected a 1pf cap to the tube's plate.  The SB-610 manual says either the grid or plate of the final IF amp.  From this point I ran a very very very short length of RG58 to one of the spare RCA jacks.
Note that at this point I could only locate a disc (not mica) cap at a local parts store (not radio shack either).
I did NOT connect the SB-610 yet as I have not installed the 3395 can and coil in it yet.

The SB-610 manual says that a somewhat larger value cap may be needed for adequate vertical deflection.  But at this point I only wanted to get started and test as I go along.

This simple connection DID adverselly affect the sensitivity.

It is possible that I may need to "tweak" the tuning of the IF transformer.  Another option that was mentioned was a Hi-Z amp and I think that the SB-610 vertical amp may provide this.

Until I install the coil and can (3395) in the SB-610, I wish to be sure that the "connection" to the RCA jack on the SB-101 does NOT affect the receiver adversely.

I will though entertain and appreciate any additional info.

Thanks & 73's
