W5M Power Xfrmr Question

Hi John

I do not know the amplifier in question but I would first try running the
transformer with no load at all and see what happens. If it gets warm then you
know the answer. If not then I would try running it with one secondary on
load at a time to track down the problem. Check the diodes and electrolytics at
the same time.

I have had two transformers from Heath SB-line units (401 and 610) fail on
me out of the fourteen or so in my various units and I think that is pretty
good considering the age of them all. Getting them rewound in the UK is an
altogether different issue though - have not solved that one yet.
