This won't be of much help, but I looked the WEco 311B up in Ludwell Sibley's book "Tube Lore".? Only specifications for the 311A are given.? Western Electric sometimes used the same tube number but changed the suffix.? In this case the 311A to a 311B.? Even though the base numbering is the same, often the tube was quite differently electrically.

Sibley's book is pretty comprehensive, but it doesn't show equivalency for either the 311A or 311B.? In fact, he states the differences between them are "unknown".

The 311A is also known as a 4311A.? If that's of any help.? I couldn't find references to a 4311A anywhere.

Someone out there knows the answer for sure.? Hope this doesn't confuse the matter.

Please forgive of topic but don't know who I could ask this question. Does 
anyone know if there is an equivelant tube to Western Electric 311B. I found 
that the WE 310A is similar to 6C6 at least good enough to do a basic test. I 
would like to test the 311B on my Precise model iii tube tester and that would 
be the only way I could do it.
