Marty (and others):
The power transformer in the DX-35 was "red-lined" even when the
transmitter was unkeyed. It was common to lose the power transformer in
normal operation of those rigs.
I lost two within two years of first building mine in 1956/57. I finally replaced it
with one from a console TV set.
Although those in the DX-40 were running considerably more conservatively,
in recent years, those have been failing with increasing frequency.
I fear that you will have difficulty finding a good replacement, and you might
consider my +50 year old solution.
