Whats it worth

My couple cents worth:
Some one has replied that they've sold a pristine one for $400. My
"guesstimate" is that you could probably get about $250-$300 for a nice one.
A big factor is whether it has been modified significantly, especially with
extra holes in the panel. There were a few common, reversible, and I think
desirable mods, such as timed sequence keying and audio input section mods.
(Mine has both). Are the knobs original? These are factors.
I agree with the comments on shipping. I won't ship anything this heavy.
Period. However, I have heard that it's safe and reasonable to ship via
Greyhound Bus. Never tried it myself.
The 100B may be a bit more valuable than the 100, due to better loading
control and a top cover that opens. It's a project to get the 100 out of
the cabinet! I think there were fewer built, too.
I don't know that Heath offered a factory built DX100B. At least the
advertising of the period and Penson's book don't mention it. Johnson
offered the Valiant and Ranger in both factory and kit versions, and one way
to tell them apart is that the factory versions had riveted tube sockets as
opposed to nut and bolt fastening on the kits.
Heath never offered a matching receiver for the DX100/100B. To know what is
"period correct," and see what people were using at the time, I look at the
Sweepstakes results in QST, which used to list the equipment used by the
winners in each section. In the 1958 SS, there were quite a number of
winners using the popular DX100. Receivers used were: National NC125,
NC183D, HRO60, NC300, Hammarlund HQ 129X, HQ140X, HQ150, Halli SX24, SX43,
SX99, SX71, SX 100, SX101, Collins 75A1, A2, A4, and RME 4350. I currently
own 8 of these receivers, and have owned or have experience with all the
others except the RME. These represent most of the medium to high end
receivers of the day, and all would represent a typical late 50s station.
(My DX100 is currently paired with a 75A2. Great combo on AM).
No special cables involved. If I recall, there's an octal socket on the
back that supplies 120VAC for an antenna relay when HV is activated to
transmit. It's easy to setup and use.
I don't know what part of the country you're in, but there is substantial AM
activity, especially on 75 and 40. Find AMI (AM International) for nets in
your area.
Jump in and join us on AM.

Wonder what a very clean and working DX 100-B is worth? I looked around
the internet no luck though. I've been told it's a factory built unit.
How do I know for sure ? Can you guys fill me in on this transmitter?
What receiver do I want to pair it with? Are there any cables that
should come with it.? Any issues problems? I'm looking to do a little
Am with it. Any and all advice is GREAT.
