SS-9000 question

A friend has an SS-9000. He's working on the PS-9000 power supply. It has a
scorch mark where a 10uF tantalum electrolytic used to be, and there are
some other mods that must have been done, because it doesn't look like the
schematic.

For example, R131 is marked 20K on the board, 10K on the schematic, but is
not loaded. D103 has been changed to a resistor and one side connected to a
different spot. Both appear to be related to a possible mod to U101, a 14.5V
regulator. My guess is that there were either some factory authorized mods
or some unofficial mods made to the board.

The board is marked 85-2732-2.

Any ideas on how to get this board back into operation?
