The knock out was there so that a Molex connector could be added for the Heath SB-500 2-meter transverter. Also, some of the SB-Line transceivers came with the Molex connector already installed.

A friend asked "why is there a rectangular cutout in the rear of some SB line cabinets"? I confessed to not knowing the answer to that one. Now I am curious. Why did Heath pre-punch that hole like a knock out? What is it for?
