Ron and the list,
I have to agree with what's been posted. For reference, in automotive work and low-stress, higher-vibration areas, I use a Bluepoint branded version of the Snap-On 29CP crimper (it's made by Snap-On, so it's the same thing, only with a blue handle). It works well, and has only given bad crimps when I screw things up. And for $59.95, if you work on a lot of that stuff, as I do, it's well worth the money.
For what you're doing, I think I would go the crimp route with a high-end crimper. The current requirements aren't out of line for a crimp connection, as long as the wire is sized adequately, and you don't have to worry about mechanical stress fractures if you need to move something around a bit, as a friend of mine does occasionally in his auxiliary power system.
Just my $0.02 worth, though...and worth every cent you paid for it. Good luck, and have fun with the project!

Mike, WA0ZOG

I am using crimp connectors in wiring up solar chargers to solar
panels. Would it be better to solder the connector after crimping the
wire or just crimp the wire only? The crimp connectors are screwed to
barrier strips. The system is running 12v 1 amp.
