Hi James,
No, the JPEG did not come thru. I tried the top north and the bottom
south,
and the material sent to me weeks ago also showed one 90 deg
west and one east, another showed both pointing north, and one with
the top one north and the other south. You see my quandary. Before I
try again to string it, I want to be sure of the pulley start points.
Another problem is apparent from the various drawings I got which show
the string once around, twice around and another three times around.
The HW-101 shows just once around with the pulleys east and west top
to bottom.
FUN, FUN, FUN !

Hi Dick,
It's really not too hard to do but you need the original Heath
instructions. I don't have a HW-100 or SB-100 manual but I do have a
SB-401 and it's the same, at least for the loading capacitor. I think
that the preselector is the same as the loading. The pulleys, both,
have to be positioned with the opening to the right, 90 degrees from
north. I have scanned it and include it as an attachment. The hardest
thing I found was the be able to tie the knot on the spring so that it
had tension.

Well I can't seem to get the jpeg to attach but I will keep trying.
I tried to send the jpeg by itself but don't know if it went through.

Well, I got so frustrated that I gave it up for a while. Back at it
again. I have tried 2 of the simpleist methods that were sent to me
(4
of them) and in each case I could not get more than a 90 deg turn.
Obviously the problem is in the positioning of the pulleys before I
start to string it, as well as the position of the tune knob. Like I
said before, I is a lowly technician not a dad-burned engineer. I
can
usually work out such problems eventually but I am out of patience
now. Bout ready to put the rubber band back on.
HEEEEELP!
